UNIVERSITY APARTMENTS
To blend within a creative university enclave, these apartment concepts studied the diverse possibilities to create luxury housing from classic to modern.
We were approached early in the visioning process for a new residential project in a university district. The program included high-rise apartments and medium density garden apartments for the larger market not associated with the institution.
At that time there was no consensus on the design direction or a vision for what the project should be. The developer asked us to help move the process forward and create a variety of concepts for each of the product types.
The high-rise apartments were sketched using a variety of materials and massing strategies to achieve styles we called Central Park Classic, Silicon Valley, and The Gold Coast. Each has its own pallet of materials and character.
The lower density garden apartments were designed to be more residential in scale and character. We developed two options for this product type . A version of the Central Park Classic with more detail and classic proportion was the first option. The second was a warm brick University Gothic style with light contrasting stone details and trim. which to tied more directly to the context.
